This position is responsible for creating, managing, and evaluating large-scale public events, overseeing public art displays, and developing strategic community engagement initiatives, including sustaining a Friends of the Library group. The role collaborates with internal library teams and external stakeholders to deliver impactful programs that enhance public engagement and cultural enrichment. Reports to the Assistant Library Director and leads ad hoc teams throughout the year without permanent direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, Marketing, Communications, or a related field Three years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations or marketing, including one year of administrative and budgetary responsibility Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas driver’s license Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing public art programs or cultural initiatives Experience working in a library, cultural institution, or government agency Experience in fundraising or donor engagement (Friends of the Library) Experience with grant writing or proposal development for community programs Experience with volunteer coordination for events or community initiatives Experience with project management tools
