The Material Works Art Award supports artists through a one-time $2500.00 grant in exchange for original artwork that will join our growing contemporary art collection. This award recognizes artistic excellence and aims to promote career advancement through increasing visibility and exposure. We are currently accepting applications from artists with contemporary art practices. Visual artists working worldwide in painting, photography, installation, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, mixed-media, experimental, and conceptual art are eligible to apply. MIXMASTER is a juried exhibition dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the diverse talents of its artist members who are based in New England and the Tri-State region. Call for art opens October 20th, 2025 on ArtCall.org. Selected works will be featured in an exhibition at the Mattatuck Museum in January 2026. The juror for MIXMASTER 2026 is Laurel V. McLaughlin, PhD, the Curator and Director of the Collective Futures Fund at Tufts University Art Galleries. This is a drama film about Will, a young man in his early 20s who has to overcome his sacrifices towards his disabled and abusive father, Colin, where one morning in a quiet New York dock, he goes into a diabetic coma and can not find his insulin, so Will has to find someone to help him and take the risk to go secure the pen and save him.

Sculpture Space offers two-month funded residencies for sculptors in a historic industrial studio complex in Utica, New York. Artists receive free housing, semi-private studio space, and access to a 5,500 sq. ft. fabrication environment designed for ambitious, experimental work. Each year, 20–25 artists from around the world join a collaborative and supportive community to participate in an informal Works-in-Progress event. A panel of arts professionals selects artists for the originality, clarity, and potential of their work and proposal. We welcome diverse practices and encourage artists working in material, spatial, and socially-engaged sculpture.

Residency Unlimited (RU) is excited to announce an open call for the 2026 NYC-Based Artist Residency (NYCBAR) Program. This program is dedicated to supporting NYC-based artists traditionally underrepresented in the arts. RU encourages applications from artists who self-identify as part of underserved communities, including but not limited to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals. The 2026 NYCBAR Program will run from March 1 – May 31, 2026, and culminate with the group exhibition “Working Conditions” curated by Phil Zheng Cai at Westbeth Gallery. Realized in collaboration with RU Guest Curator Phil Zheng Cai, the program will be shaped by the curatorial concept that dissects the notion of the “artist” into two identities: the one who makes art, and the one who performs “artist” as a profession. Artists who maintain other jobs are invited to reflect on how those experiences inform their practice.

The NYS Choreographers Initiative (NYSCI) is a program of the NYS DanceForce in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts. It is designed to help individual choreographers develop their choreographic skills by providing resources such as a stipend, creative time with professional dancers, and the guidance of a mentor.
